The Colloquium enables debate on the interaction between business and finance within global and regional trends and developments in society and the Earth as the supporting system for the economy. This serves three goals:
- Diving into the principles and practices of sustainable business itself, and the required support by finance. Where sustainable thinking and strategy emerges at high speed in business, it is vital for the financial industry to use its financial power and knowledge to track the best ways to enable such development. Is the financial industry aligned with sustainable business, is it connected to the emerging circular economy; is it tready to support global Sustainable Development Goals. Is it able to act within the borders of ever stronger regulations in that sector?
- Exploring conditions for the financial industry to adequately support required innovation in business. What is needed to bring back trust, to earn the license to operate, to be the partner of choice for business to build a better future for all?
- Defining content and methods for the business-schools to prepare leaders and managers more adequately for sustainable business, finance and accountancy. Research, but also "letters to the editor" and other interventions have made clear, that business-schools were a part of the (financial) problem like the current crisis. The question is: how to become a part of the solution? What has to be changed in order to play a vital role in executive education, in corporate culture, in new beliefs and practices?
